Lok Paritran
First of all kudos to the young minds which came up with this brilliant idea to startup this party and bringing about a change in the country’s long rotten democratic system. I am not shunning the democratic form of governance but rather am condemning the crooked souls who have corrupted it to such a bad extent that the mere mention of politics brings in scorn and disgust to every honest and law abiding citizen. Parties which were once lead by Great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi have had such a pitfall that they has become the breeding ground for Gundagardi and an asylum for Jail breakers.
The average salaried taxpayer has borne the brunt of all the corruption right from the watchman in a Government hospital to the Heads of the State. In order to correct the system, it is a bold step forward by the Student community. As the future of the country heads for grave dangers, it is up to us, the educated fraternity to bring forth the issues long left unattended by the present day politicians. I still wonder how the TN Govt. got away with all the money that it swindled while giving autonomy to the various private colleges in the state or while suspending the TNPCEE as invalid after the whole procedure. This money is not considered a waste. But if a poor chap is unable to pay up his electricity bill for a particular month, the plug is pulled off. Hats off to the Indian Constitution & the IPC.
Student power is something that goes into the gutter in our country. Revolutions Past and Present have shown that the country’s youth has played a huge role in their success. Take for example the recent student protests in France in which a million odd students took to the streets once the Govt. announced that their employers can sack them without sufficient notice. Immediately the Government, fearing its existence, pulled back the bill. But the Arjun singh issue is going nowhere. There are student protests in Delhi by the Medical students but it has not had the desired effect as they are the only ones struggling against it. Why is it that the students in Bombay and Calcutta and Chennai are choosing to play dumb knowing well that the bill affects them too. Im not talking only about the medical students but am addressing the whole of the student fraternity as a whole. Every educated person knows that this is a disastrous bill, and will hamper the country’s progress. But the resistance has been very minimal. Why is it that the others have decided to play it down?
When a common man can understand this, why is it that the HRD minister of India unable to understand this? And during the first day of protests the Minister did not have the spine to come out and address the gathering. Instead he chooses Tear Gas Shells, Lathis and Water Jets to clear out the silent demonstrators. I guess even a HR guy in any small company would have handled the situation better. This brings us back to the fundamental Question. Are our so called leaders qualified enough to lead this country into the new millennium. And from all these events it is clearly seen that the answer is a BIG NO. Our Honorable Railway Minster presented the Railway budget in this session in which heavy perks were given to people traveling in First AC. When questioned about this issue by a news channel, our Ministers answer was that he was making First AC affordable to the aam aadmi. Instead, it would have been better if more plans were introduced in for maintain the hygiene in Trains and in making them more “Travellable”.
This reservation issue has snowballed into such a big mess because of one small reason. The Educated Fraternity does not exercise its right to vote. Another reason for this is that they do not find any person fit enough to vote for. Every person standing in the election does so for the sole reason of amassing wealth by any means possible. The minorities and the uneducated are the ones exercising this power and hence they are favoured by the political parties. It is high time that the Educated Masses of this country woke up to this issue and started acting upon it instead of just discussing about it in their personal groups and houses.
